The Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson should be on the reading list. King Corn is a great video and expands on the topic of monocultural ag raised in Food, Inc.

I was being sarcastic about "washing it off," Tim! :-) And I'm still not sold on irradiating food. I think exciting inner electrons with X-Rays or whatever could be an issue - and I guarantee NO ONE is going to publish an unbiased study on it...

Chek also makes the point that properly raised meats are much less likely to NEED irradiation in the first place. That sounds logical to me...

My feeling is that I'd rather eat stuff that hasn't been irradiated. I avoid using microwaves for the same reason even though microwave energy is low energy radiation and mainly excites water molecules on the rotational energy level...

Thanks for the comment, man!

Good article, but the following paragraph is just misguided.

Organic produce and meat is not irradiated. Also according to Paul Chek, most conventionally produced meat and most produce is irradiated with radiation greater than 500 times the power of an X-ray to kill bacteria and other organisms. You’re not washing that off in the sink either.

Trying to wash x-rays off of a piece of meat is like shining a flashlight on the meat, then trying to wash off the light after turning the flashlight off, i.e. it makes no sense. When you look at something, you're getting radiation in your eyes because *all* light is a form of radiation. X-rays and gamma rays are basically just very violet light. They're more violet than ultra violet light. Irradiating food doesn't mean it's made radioactive - it just means that it's had a powerful light (radiation) blasted at it to kill bacteria.
